WELCOME!
Inspiration
Worth Sharing As an art director, part-time jewelry
designer (new site
coming soon!) and otherwise design junkie, I find that inspiration
is
as necessary as the air we breathe. And as most of my friends
and colleagues know, I like sharing new discoveries.
Through this e-newsletter, I'll share my design finds, inspiration
and otherwise sources of bewilderment, chronicle recent work
and post a few other goodies. I hope you'll enjoy this newsletter
and find it helpful.
Blogs
Are for Kids, Right? If you think that's the case, take a closer look you'll find
no shortage of design blogs showcasing the best in typography,
interior design and design
aesthetics. There are even blogs
dedicated to words. What does all of this have to do with advertising?
Everything! Color combinations, patterns, shapes, spatial relationships...it
all has a relevance to design and can invigorate even the worst
case of Monday brain fog. Look for cool links in upcoming e-newsletters.
Help
Save Lou's Wall As some of you are aware, the founding
father of corporate image, Lou Dorfsman passed
away recently.
His work with
typography, slogans and simple copy made him a legend in
the advertising world. One of his most famous works was "Gastrotypographicalassemblage," a
3D, typographical art installation for the 35' x 8'6" cafeteria
wall in the CBS corporate headquarters. The wall was dismantled
after 25 years, however artist and illustrator Nick Fasciano
recently obtained the nine panels which are currently housed
at The
Center for Design Study in Atlanta. Due to its abandonment
and the ravages of time, the wall is currently in a state
of disrepair. Together with Richard Anwyl, Nick has mounted
a campaign to "Save Lou's Wall." Donations can
be made online and 100% of the proceeds go toward refurbishing
this great treasure. Watch an amazing video about this
project here.
